Tickets Now on Sale for Third Annual Halifax Seaport Beerfest

Halifax, NS – Tickets on sale now for the third annual Halifax Seaport BeerFest. Over 2000 beer fans are expected to attend the event on August 8, 2009. There will be an afternoon session from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and an evening session from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Tickets are available at select NSLC stores, Garrison Brewing Company, and Bishop’s Cellar for $35 plus HST or $40 at the door.

“New to the Beerfest are local microbrewers Propeller, Sea Level and Rockbottom, bringing us to 11 independent Maritime producers and nearly 100% regional participation.” says Bruce Mansour, whose firm Make It Happen Inc. co-owns and produces the festival. This year’s gathering of breweries will also include separate pavilions for Ontario and Maine. “The Ontario Craft Brewers have come onboard in a big way, sending beer from 11 independent brewers, many of whom have never been sold in Nova Scotia. It’s our biggest festival yet with over 65 individual breweries & cider producers sampling over 140 brands from around the world!”

Great beer deserves great food. New for 2009 is the addition of Taste of Nova Scotia as a sponsor and three booths selling local food that pairs well with the many beers available. Taste member Scanway Catering will be offering Atlantic Seafood Sausage with haddock, scallops, salmon and cold water shrimp with beet sauerkraut as well as Nova Scotia Beef Sausage, with smoked tomato ketchup, and house-made grainy mustard. The Port Pub Bistro, from Port Williams, is featuring Pulled Pork Sandwiches, and Yarmouth's Rudder’s Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub have chosen to feature their famous Fresh Haddock Fish Cakes with Chow-Chow. For those who wish to pair dessert with beer, The Sweet Spot Chocolate Shop will feature chocolate covered popcorn and chocolate covered pretzels.

What’s a festival without music! This year, the mood is completed by Keith Andrews of Pogue Fado fame in the afternoon and up-and-comers “Old Wagon Whisky” in
the evening.
