PRESS RELEASE
Taste of Nova Scotia to Honour Seven Members
with Prestige Awards
Halifax, N.S. – Quality members, quality product and quality Nova Scotia experiences are the foundation of Taste of Nova Scotia. To recognize this excellence, on November 6, 2008, seven members will be honoured with Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax.
"We have over 100 quality reasons for people to love the “Taste” of Nova Scotia… and they can be experienced through any one of our valued members," says Janice Ruddock, executive director of Taste of Nova Scotia. “The Prestige Awards is an opportunity to identify and emphasize members’ commitment to that quality and their outstanding achievements in the Nova Scotia food and wine industry."
The first annual Prestige Awards recognizes distinction in the following seven categories: Innovative Product of the Year, Exporter of the Year, Quality Driven Member of the Year, Restaurant Server of the Year, Cuisine of the Year, Restaurant of the Year and Taste of Nova Scotia Member of the Year.
Nominees were selected by committee and approved by the Taste of Nova Scotia board of directors. Commitment to improving business and promoting culinary excellence in Nova Scotia were the main criteria considered in the decision-making process.
Tickets for the Prestige Awards, held at The Prince George Hotel, cost $125 each, or $750 for a table of eight. There will be a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the awards dinner. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact Janice MacDonald at (902) 492-9291, ext 114 or taste@tasteofnovascotia.com.
Throughout the evening, Taste will be selling tickets for a culinary experience package. The prize will include a return trip to Montreal on board Via Rail’s train “The Ocean”, two night’s accommodation and a trio of tickets for upcoming Taste of Nova Scotia events. A portion of the draw proceeds will go to the 2008 Festival of Trees events organized by the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
The menu for the evening, prepared by executive chef Ted Grant of the Prince George Hotel, utilizes local Nova Scotia ingredients and is paired with some of Nova Scotia’s award-winning wines.
