Limited Edition wines by Benjamin Bridge to be showcased at Art Gallery’s November 1st Gala
Tuesday, October 21, 2008 (Halifax, Nova Scotia) -
Benjamin Bridge, the new and innovative winery in the Gaspereau Valley of Nova Scotia, will be a gold sponsor of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia at its fundraising gala evening on November 1st by contributing three of its limited edition wines to accompany dinner that evening.
Gerald McConnell, one of the owners, said “The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is a perfect partner for Benjamin Bridge where we believe that the making of wine is an art starting with our innovative viticulture to the creative winemaking of our international winemaking team...this Gala is the perfect opportunity to showcase some of our limited edition wines to an appreciative Nova Scotia audience.”
Ray Cronin, Director and CEO of the Art Gallery agreed, “This is our major fundraiser and we are delighted with Benjamin Bridge’s sponsorship and hope their participation becomes an annual event.”
Benjamin Bridge will also offer its Borealis icewine for sale at the Gala and will contribute $5 to the Art Gallery for every bottle purchased at the Gala. This will be a unique opportunity to taste some of the acclaimed wines produced by Benjamin Bridge.
The wines have been carefully paired with a delectable three-course menu created by award-winning chef, Tahir Salamat, known for his superb cuisine at the upscale Onyx restaurant in Halifax.
Served with the first course will be the 2006 vintage Nova 7, a lightly sparkling off-dry wine unique to Nova Scotia. 2006 was the first vintage and production was limited to less than 40 cases. 2006 Nova 7 will only be offered privately to Benjamin Bridge’s Signature list and at events such as the Gala. Over 200 cases of the 2007 vintage of Nova 7 were released in July 2008 and sold out in weeks.
With the main course Benjamin Bridge will provide a preview of its 2004 Foch, a beautifully intense red wine matured in new oak barriques. It is the only red produced by Benjamin Bridge. Fewer than 200 cases of the 2004 Foch were produced and these will be officially released in early 2009.
The showcase wine for the Art Gallery Gala is Borealis, an icewine of exceptional quality. Cellared for 4 years, critics in private tastings have praised Borealis and Sean Wood, respected wine expert and columnist for the Chronicle Herald, says that with Borealis, Benjamin Bridge has “hit another winner” that “will have an honoured place among Canadian icewines”. Borealis is being released in time for gift giving and enjoyment during the holiday season.
